You may have heard that the battery life can be prolonged to a considerable extent with just changing some settings that switch off programs or services that are not in use. You may have been finding long lists with detailed to very detailed guides and descriptions. They usually require some time and effort to be applied. And there are quite a lot of recommendations that do not bring significant changes.
This little guide will show you the quick method of switching off the most voracious applications. You may consider chasing also the smaller spongers through the menus and locations of your device. But that can be done at a later time when you are settled somewhere and want to play.

So, first off you need to switch off all the things that are on idle run – bluetooth, wi-fi, 4G scanning if you are outside the coverage. Push Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks and disable Bluetooth, Wi-fi and 4G.
Another thing that has significant influence on the battery life is the screen brightness. It can be useful to control it manually. Go to Menu > Settings > Sound & display > Brightness. Disable Automatic brightness and adjust it manually.
You might consider also adjust your e-mail, Twitter, Facebook accounts not to update too often. It is not easy to tell what an optimal setting would be. It wholly depends on your needs and habits of using those networks. Often periods of intense communication shift with relative calm. Since it is very easy to change, you can even adjust them to whatever the situation demands.
Use the task manager to switch off the applications that run in the background. There is a checkbox for each application. Just select and press End button at the bottom of the screen. If you don’t need any of them, press End All.
For a new battery, allow full discharge for three to four periods. Charge the phone to its full capacity and then allow it to run until it switches off, and repeat that for a couple of times. In most cases, these cycles of full drain will significantly improve the battery life.
